What to cook for dinner?


I will invite a couple of friends for dinner, and I didn`t know what to cook to make a good impression. I have already bought two bottles of red wine and I found two recipes, simple to make.
I vote for the first one, but I`m presenting both of them to let you the possibility of choice.

1. Chicken with tomatoes and potatoes

Ingredients
1 ½ pounds of boneless chicken thighs
3 plum tomatoes, chopped
1 large potato, peeled and cubed
1 onion
1 garlic clove
1 teaspoon olive oil
salt and black pepper
¾ cup chicken broth
¼ cup fresh basil




Preparation
Sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper and put them in a large non-stick skillet with olive oil. Let them about 5 minutes, until brown on both sides. Than add the onion and garlic thinly sliced. After 5 minutes, add the tomatoes, potatoes and broth. Reduce the heat, cover and let them cook for 20 minutes. When it’s ready, remove it from the heat and serve with fresh basil.

2.  Beef fried with rice

Ingredients
1 pound beef
3 eggs
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
2 cups long grain rice
2 small onions
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar


Preparation
Put the beef in a skillet and cook it in medium heat under no longer pink. In a large bowl, beat eggs and pepper. In another skillet put the olive oil and add the eggs in it. When eggs are completely cooked, remove them and cut into strips. Return the eggs in the pan and add all the other ingredients including rice. Let them cook for 10 minutes in medium heat. Now the meal is ready.

Don’t forget snacks, nearly 11am and 5 pm. Pay attention to them because they are very important when you want to lose or control your weight.

Eating fast does not help you. You have to spend minimally 20 minutes for a meal, so in that way the brain can receive the message that you are full and avoid over-eating. Eating slowly help metabolism to digest better. Also you are conscious about what and how much you are eating, and able to say stop to yourself.

As we said snacks are very important and they can be friend or enemy in your weight battle. You have heard about nervous appetite. Well, you have to distinguish when you really are hungry or not. Ideal snacks are fruits, cereals, tea that can quench your hunger without adding extra calories.  And be careful to stay away from saturated fats.

To have success in losing some pounds or maintaining your weight balance, you have to avoid food with to many calories. This doesn’t mean you will never eat them, but when it’s possible substitute with other choices. For example: eat chicken instead of beef, or grilled food instead of toasted. But you have to remember that no food is bad for you, bad is the quantity you consume of each food. So, be careful in portions.

Remember that eating must be always a pleasure, a moment of relax to share with your family or friends. Be stressed about one more cookie, only ruin your mood for the rest of the day. The right solution is to burn those excess calories by physical activity

To cook by yourself lets you control the quantity and quality of the ingredients. Use more frequently vapor cooking or grilled than toasted. Add fewer as you can: oil, butter or other fats. Your recipes must be delicious and healthy at the same time. 

Control your emotions

Emotions like: stress, anxiety, frustration, fear can lead you to eat more and more. I’m sure that this has happened to you at least once. Don’t worry, this is normal and unconscious you don’t have to inculpate yourself. In these cases the best choice is to have control of your emotions, and if you really can’t do it, than try to have a walk at the park. It’s healthier and successful. 


If you really want to lose some pounds, you must not be focused only in food & nutrition. An important thing is also exercising. If you alternate these two things together you will be satisfied by the surprising results.

Eggs are rich in amino acids and proteins. They make you feel full and to avoid overeating. The proteins help to burn fat and to build muscles, so in toning your body. You can eat them every hour of the day, its not said that they’re ok only for breakfast.
